Loving coloured jeans, and I mean love. Great way to brighten up an outfit and embrace Spring! New Look have these lovely Maternity Turquoise Skinny Jeans in at the moment. They have a slim-cut leg and ribbed inserts to the sides for a comfortable fit under your bump and a button and zip fly fastening. They are available in sizes 8 to 18 and cost just £19.99. Great buy.

They also have maternity jeans in red. blue, mink and brown – all same price. This makes us happy.

Exercise during pregnancy is good for you and your soul. And if you don’t believe me, just read what the NHS has to say about it: The more active and fit you are during pregnancy, the easier it will be for you to adapt to your changing shape and weight gain. It will also help you to cope with labour and get back into shape after the birth. See told you! On a serious note, do please read the NHS guidelines on pregnancy, as there are a few things you should avoid.

If like me, when you work out, you feel the urge to buy all the gear … well during pregnancy you have every excuse, because your growing bump shouldn’t be squeezed in to ill fitting joggers, and those big boobs will need some extra support.

So what’s stopping you?

Working down, treat yourself to some brown leather – yes leather – wedge boots from New Look for £79.99. And as it’s a little chilly at the moment, how about a blue maternity jacket from Zalanda? £75. Nice outfit!

Obviously, all that’s missing is a little bit of accessorising. I’ll leave that to you … but would suggest some nice earrings, manicured nails and a big smile.

But pregnancy, which can be uncomfortable at the best of times, can feel demoralising if you don’t feel like you can take that much care over your appearance, or still look your best on a fun night out with friends. This is especially the case if you like to keep up with seasonal fashions.
So, how to be practical and stay modish?

For the odd few, more special items, visiting maternity boutiques, which stock much pregnancy wear by top designers is a great place to start. You’ll find that you can find many of these online, so they have the added bonus of allowing you to put your feet up as you browse. Looking in charity stores can also yield rich results. Look hard!

Not only may that have designer maternity clothes at reduced prices; they often have a better range of maternity wear than high-street retail shops, which, in the current economic climate, are ordering fewer and fewer items for the pregnant woman. Many women rush to buy maternity clothes in the first few months of pregnancy to find that they don’t grow to a size that warrants the need for them. It is possible to buy bigger or plus size clothes from major high-street stores and adapt them to your new shape. Doing so will allow you a lot more choice, and a good deal more opportunity, to keep up with the latest trends.

Finally, though the selection of maternity wear in high-street stores these days isn’t what it used to be, there are still a few places that take the time and care to provide cheap and modish maternity items. Go to New Look, for example, for a great range of maternity clothes, from comfy jeans to summer dresses in a range of up-to-date styles – from kimonos, to ruffle dresses, to sequin swathy numbers. The website also includes a section outlining some style tips – offering you the support of guidance as you peruse. They have a great range of basics in.

There are some great options available at the moment. Topshop, of course, are bang on trend with their Maternity MOTO Leigh supersoft skinny jeans in forest with elasticated front panel. (£38) and ASOS have some in teal, some striking red maternity jeans with a  a low hipster style waist and some bright blue ones too. All £32.

If you’re looking for cheap and cheerful, New Look have some dark red in stock and also some dark tan. They have a ribbed stretch side detail leading into pocket to provide comfort. £19.99. You can’t go wrong at that price.

Seraphine have some Skinny Grey Luxe Jeans which I am liking the look of, pregnant or not. £65. You get the belt too. Always a bonus.

And last, but by no means least, how about hopping over to A Pea in the Pod and grabbing a pair of the purple AG Jeans ones. They look lovely, and will set you back $210.

So dear readers, whatever your budget you can be bang on trend and rock the coloured denim look this season.  Colour makes me happy!

Woodland Floral Smock Dress

This pretty little number is available from New Look in sizes 8 to 18. It has a scoop neck with corsage detail and an exposed chunky zip fasten back … very Victoria Beckham (she loves an exposed zip!). But our favourite thing is the pretty sketchy woodland print. Only £25.99. I suspect this one will be a sell out. Winter it up with thick tights, boots and either a waterfall cardigan or a great maternity coat.

New Look Jackets & Coats

Just been checking out the maternity coats and jackets over at New Look. If you’re looking for a cheap coat then I suggest you head over there now. They cost between £30 and £42. Perfect.

Rollasole

Well. What a little treasure we have stumbled across here. Rollasole. The shoe with er, soul! Aimed at clubbers and disco divas, yet Rollasole is perfect for your pregnant feet! If like me, you were someone reluctant to give up your heels but knew a whole day wearing 4″ heels – okay 3″ heels – may be just a little to much, you NEED some of these in your handbag.

They are simple, comfortable ballet flats that can be purchased from vending machines at nightclubs, from stores such as New Look or direct from Rollasole themselves. For a mere £7, you can purchase a pair of these ballet flats that roll up into a ball and stuff easily inside your purse. They even come with a bag to place your hellish heels after your have removed them.

Pure genius.
