Office Wear: The Traditional Trouser Suit
We thought it was time we tackled one of the biggest maternity wear problems. Office Wear. It’s so hard getting the right balance between professionalism and comfort. So taking the bull by the horns, we decided to start with what we consider to be the hardest one of all … the traditional trouser suit.
So here goes, our top 5, in no particular order…
Neo Suit by Crave
The tailored trousers are a perfect maternity basic for all occasions. Designed to sit comfortably under the bump, the straight cut legs skim the hips and are fashioned with front creases and back pocket detail for a distinctive finish, and finished with a classic single breasted double button tailored jacket. You can also get a skirt and cropped trousers in this range.

Tailored Suit by Seraphine
This suit is a wool blend that feels ‘divinely soft to the touch and against the skin’ apparently. The trousers fit neatly under your bump and have discreet side stretch panels to enable you to grow comfortably. The jacket has one button to fasten under the bust and curves at the bottom edges for feminine silhouette. Its long line covers your hips and thins the silhouette.
Jacket £85 Trousers £59
Black Suit by Next
This suit is a bit of a bargain and that’s why it has been included. Both the jacket and the trousers are 61% polyester (our least favourite material ever!) but it is fitted and comes in four leg lengths! And it’s cheap.
Jacket £35 Trousers £22
Of course, not everyone needs to go out and buy a suit just because they work in the office – there are some fabulous alternatives out there but sometimes, needs must. And a good suit is a wardrobe staple, so if you are planning on having lots of babies, invest wisely.
